MEASURE and EXPLORE: Careers and $$$ as the Context
Keys2Work uses career exploration and the prospect of increased earning potential as the relevant context for the remediation and certification process.
Upon beginning the program, participants take a quick pre-test in one of 9 skill areas. The Pretest assigns their skill a level and dollar value and shows them a list of careers that use their level of skill.
Participants explore and identify favorite careers and career clusters. The exploration is easy and fun. Participants access the Keys2Work web-based career exploration system—containing nearly 1000 interactive “Career Cards” and 16 “Cluster Cards.” Each career card documents the WorkKeys skills and levels needed to be successful in that career. Career cards also contain information on the skills and knowledge needed to do the career, demand projections, salary information, career path information, links to post-secondary education providers, links to available jobs, and career pictures and videos. Cluster Cards contain brochures, videos and detailed Career Plans of Study for each cluster.
