Keys2Work Process: Measure & Explore | Improve | Certify

Keys2Work is a career-based skill remediation and certification program. The program’s power comes from its ability to place a dollar value on skills that are taught in the classroom, to increase those skills, and then to document them for an employer or college.

The program is built around ACT's WorkKeys system -- a national program that defines and assesses the skills needed for success in the workplace. Even though ACT developed the WorkKeys system as an adult assessment program for use by employers in identifying strong job candidates, a growing number of education leaders recognize the incredible power of WorkKeys within the education and training community.

WorkKeys is so powerful for educators and trainers because it provides the relevance so often missing from classroom instruction by first clearly defining the core foundational skills needed for work and then mapping these skills down to the level of specific occupations.

Once the learning gaps are clearly defined, remediation curriculum is available to strengthen the skills sets required for virtually any career choice.

Smart Futures is an official WorkKeys service provider that offers the Keys2Work program to schools and training organizations across Pennsyvlania as an innovative, affordable way to incorporate the power of WorkKeys into a classroom.

The Keys2Work program offers schools and training organizations in Pennsylvania a comprehensive O-Net based career exploration tool and powerful web-based WorkKeys remediation curriculum that helps improve students foundational academic skills and prepares them for both college and work success. It also prepares youths for WorkKeys testing that leads to their earning a National Career Readiness Credential.

Currently Keys2Work is used by over 300 Pennsylvania schools and training organizations to remediate skills needed for post-secondary success – both in college and in the workplace. Our clients use Keys2Work to:

• Provide recognized National Career Readiness Certification to youth documenting their preparation for work and college (see article)
• Provide differentiated instruction of key foundation skills within a classroom settings
• Document progress within Individual Education Plans
• Improve performance on PSSA and College Entrance Examinations
